His Hands Only by John Hagee
Exodus 15:3—The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.
The Lord is indeed sovereign over every righteous cause and He ordains war in defense of righteousness.  However, within the church in America, today, there is an increasing tendency to think that we should just let the Lord deal with our enemies and not proactively engage ourselves in war; especially considering the billions of dollars budgeted for the military which represents one of our largest debt liabilities.

But what does God say about putting foreign affairs into His hands only?

When the children of Israel were “sitting ducks” on the edge of the Red Sea with Pharaoh and the Egyptian army fiercely pursuing after them to take them back into bondage, Moses told the people that the Lord alone would save them.  But the Lord had a slightly different spin in mind:

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me?  Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward…lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it:  and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.” Exodus 14:15

God made it clear that, yes, this was His battle and it was in His righteous might that it would be won, but He required the man Moses to be His General and the people to be supportive of Moses’ efforts to protect them.  From this, we can see that while God is a just God who protects and fights the battle, He expects us to be involved.

So, on Veterans’ Day, we thank every man and woman who has served, who is serving or who plans to serve this great nation, according to holy righteousness, and against much opposition from the people, for your commitment to this great nation, the United States of America, which was founded upon the Biblical principles woven together as the threads of the fabric of our Constitution, and is sustained by the blessing and mercies of God unto this day.

You, Veterans, are God ordained instruments of defense against every threat that would harm or destroy our land and our way of life, under God.  And for that, we are eternally grateful!
