When You Ask by Tammy Lang Jensen

And at the end of the day as the sun grows dim and the sky turns black. He will teach us, guide us , talk with us; all we have to do is listen.

When You Ask by Tammy Lang Jensen
You have not, because you ask not; you reap not, because you sow not. You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet, but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight.

You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures (James 4:2-3).

Few of my children cheer for this scripture, they enjoyed their nice things. They want family vacations, a second car, and to live debt-free. There is nothing wrong with these things, but what does the Father really desire. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him (Hebrews 11:6). How many of us truly know the heart of the Father?

How many can claim we have earnestly sought him. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength (Mark 12:30). But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). How can we purify our motives, how can we crucify of rebellious hearts. I am hearing the lyric: Nothing but the blood of Jesus! He will save us from our sin and plant our feet firmly on a rock. He will make us as sure footed as a deer, able to tread on Mountain Heights.

And at the end of the day as the sun grows dim and the sky turns black. He will teach us, guide us , talk with us; all we have to do is listen. Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on a solid rock (Matthew 7:24). On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.

Don’t be swept away by worldly desires, don’t let Temptations quench the Spirit of God. Be alert, stand firm in the faith, act like a man, be strong (1 Corinthian 16:13). Make yourself a vessel, purified for the Father’s use. I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways (Psalm 85:8). Whether you turn to the right or to the left your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21).

You will keep my foot from evil (Proverbs 4:27). We serve a God of grace, a God of mercy, who will not leave us without support. Let us have confidence, then, and approach God‘s throne where there is grace. There we will receive mercy and find grace to help us just when we need it (Hebrews 4:16). None of this will be the result of your own efforts, but God’s gift, so that no one can boast about it (Ephesians 2:9).

Remember, God resist the proud, but welcomes the humble (James 4:6). My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit: A broken and contrite heart, O God, Thou will not despise (Psalm 51:17). Here I am God, do with me as you will.....
